boots

Aug 17, 2011

This started out with an idea from a while back, a part I’d recorded and liked but hadn’t found a home for yet, and I basically just played with it for a while, trying it out on different sounds and editing until it all fit together. It’s a 9-bar circular chord progression played on plucked piano, joined by arpeggiated Mbiras, a Novachord pad and finally some rather triumphant bells. Thanks once again to my father for the picture, which seemed to suit the ‘recycling’ theme… I gather the boots are an old pair of my uncle’s, refurbished by my aunt.

  1. I love this one most of the whole series so far. It’s ravishingly beautiful. You could work it into a cantata!

    • I liked this one a lot too, and I agree it could go much further – and may well do so at some point! That’s kind of the idea of these ‘sketches’, but of course it’s easier said than done…

  2. it could go further but it already goes… walter/wendy would like it. i kind of like the feeling of the tension almost being released but not quite and circling back upon itself. maybe it wants to have a female voice..? beautiful in any case, tobias.
