Here it is – the first piece in what will hopefully be a long and fruitful series of them… this one is called ‘The Empty Quarter‘ and is dedicated to my rather awesome cousin Brooke Burgess, on the occasion of his 41st birthday…
The title comes from the Anglicized name of one of the largest sand deserts in the world, encompassing most of the southern third of the Arabian Peninsula, including southern Saudi Arabia, and areas of Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen. The arabic name is Rub’_al_Khali
(note: I’ll put up some more notes on the piece, and the project itself, in the next few days… for today I just wanted to get the ball rolling…)
